Netsize, a leading mobile commerce and communications enabler, has been selected by Hands-On Mobile, the world’s leading developer of connected games and applications, to power the video upload function of its user-generated video sharing service, Yatta Video in France The service allows users to upload mobile videos directly from their mobile phone using Premium MMS. Visitors to the Yatta Video service can download the clip for a small fee of between 0,50€ and 1,00€, whilst a percentage of the download revenue for a given clip is paid back to the original contributor.
The Yatta Video service is currently available in France, where it is offered on the SFR mobile network. Plans are to roll out the service across additional European countries in the coming months.
Juniper Research predicts the market for mobile user-generated content (UGC) will skyrocket, rising from $572 million in 2007 to more than $5.7 billion in 2012. Social networking will account for half of revenues, followed by personal content delivery, and dating.
“As a personal and interactive tool, the mobile phone allows us to capture and share content on the go. The explosive growth of social networks, driven by the abundance of user-generated content, will certainly ignite MMS usage as it offers consumers an easy and convenient way to upload and share content directly from their from mobile phones. In line with this trend, we see a growing interest in MMS from media companies, Web portals and social networking communities in harnessing MMS for content creation and exchange. Hands-On Mobile understands the benefits of this approach," observed Frederic Halley, Netsize COO.
Netsize provides publishers, brands, and content companies with an end-to-end solution that includes international MMS connections, with mobile-originated MMS (MMS MO) short codes to streamline the uploading of user-generated content and clips; and a mobile terminated MMS (MMS MT) short code to enable the delivery and download of multimedia content for UGC services, or rich-media for mobile marketing campaigns.
“Yatta Video is an innovative and original service,” said Greg Robinson, General Manager EMEA for Hands-On Mobile “It offers a quality service to all fans of user generated videos of which the MMS upload is an integral part because it makes it easy for the community's budding directors to share their clips with the wider community. Since launching the service, we have witnessed fantastic growth in the number of videos users submit. Moreover, the Netsize MMS solution enables us to deploy the service quickly in France and execute our expansion plans across Europe.”
